Illinois supports "Homes for Our Troops"

The Illinois Credit Union League is proud to join CUNA and a host of other worthy organizations in their support of the Homes for Our Troops project.
During the 2008 national party conventions, credit unions across the country, along with CUNA, Leagues and volunteers will partner with Home for Our Troops to build specially adapted homes for two severely injured veterans and their families. One home will be built in each of the convention host cities of Denver, Colorado and St. Paul, Minnesota.
The host leagues (Colorado and Minnesota) are working hard to obtain donations and volunteers at the local level. However, they cannot do it alone! In addition to the host Leagues’ efforts, a total of $300,000 is needed to meet the national credit union fundraising goal.
"We are offering this special fundraising opportunity to all Illinois credit unions, their volunteers and staff to join in this very worthwhile cause that exemplifies the “people helping people” philosophy of the credit union movement,” said Dan Plauda, ICUL president/chief executive officer. “Donating to this worthy project will demonstrate to the troops how grateful we are for their devoted service and personal sacrifice.”
The Illinois Credit Union System has made a $6,000 donation to this cause. Because Homes For Our Troops is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization your donations are tax deductible.
