One of ICUL's retained lobbyists, Bill Foster, died on July 10, 2008 after a battle with cancer.
Foster founded William S. Foster and Associates in 1987, a successful government relations firm providing lobbying and consultant services to a wide variety of companies and trade associations, including ICUL. He worked in or around the Capitol since 1971 and developed many strong relationships with leaders from both political parties in Illinois.
He was also active in local civic affairs organizations and events, including the Capitol Township Board of Trustees and the Springfield Park Board.
One of his great passions was golf, as shown by his support of the State Farm Rail Classic (a nationally televised LPGA tournament held in Springfield), where he served as Chairman Emeritus. His passing occurred about one week before that annual tournament was scheduled to begin and as a result, a memorial was held on the 18th green of the course. Several hundred people were in attendance.
“'Foz’'was a great advocate on behalf of credit unions and a key member of our governmental affairs team,” said Dan Plauda, ICUL President/Chief Executive Officer. “He will be greatly missed.”
He is survived by his wife and 3 children. An educational fund has been established on behalf of his children who are in college.
