ICUL Annual Data Collection Update
On May 22, 2009, affiliated credit unions were mailed several forms as well as information about opportunities available to members of the Illinois Credit Union League. Please take a few minutes to review the materials as some of them require your response.
Field of Membership Survey – Response Requested by July 31
Periodically, the Illinois Credit Union League receives requests from individuals and organizations who seek credit unions to join. To help us refer credit unions that best match their requests, we need to update our files so we conduct a Field of Membership survey annually. Please review the “Field of Membership Survey.” It contains the information we currently have on file regarding your credit union and its field of membership. If there are changes to any pieces of information, please mark them clearly directly on the form and return it to us by July 31 using the enclosed reply envelope.
Online Credit Union Directory Update – Response Requested by July 31
One feature on the League’s website is the Online Credit Union Directory. It is part of the restricted area of our website and is available only to League members. The general public and vendors cannot access this information on our website. We enclosed a print out of the information we have in our records regarding your credit union including mailing address, main phone number, 800 (toll-free) phone number, fax number, website address, branches and people. The number of members and asset data is taken directly from the 5300 reports and automatically updated on a semi-annual basis. The enclosed page(s) show you what appears for your credit union when you use the online directory.
Be sure to take extra time to look at the “People” section. If a person is no longer with your CU, please cross out his/her name and we will remove them from our records. You can decide which people from your CU are listed in this section. If you prefer to display some CU staff and board members on the Online Directory and keep others hidden, please use the check box to indicate the records you DO NOT want displayed on the Online Directory. These records will remain in our database, but will not appear when your CU's information is accessed using the Online Directory. Please review this information and make updates on the enclosed form to let us know if you have any additions, deletions or corrections. Return it to us by July 31 using the enclosed reply envelope.
Email Newsletter and ListServ Subscriptions Update – Response Requested by July 31
The League currently offers members the opportunity to subscribe to several email newsletters and list servs. A document was enclosed which lists all the names and email addresses of people from your credit union who are currently subscribed to each newsletter and list serv. Feel free to add the names and email addresses of board and staff members and indicate which newsletters and list servs they want to subscribe to. For more information regarding these newsletters and list servs, contact Will Wille at the League (800-942-7124). Please review these lists and make updates on the enclosed form to let us know by July 31 if you have any additions, deletions or corrections. Return it by July 31 using the enclosed reply envelope.
Find A Credit Union Program
The Illinois Credit Union League partnered with the California Credit Union League several years ago to provide a nationwide credit union referral program to affiliated Illinois credit unions. This program allows your credit union to enter its field of membership information into a nationwide database to be used by individuals seeking credit union membership. Each credit union can enter and update its information as needed. To see how the program works, go to www.findacreditunion.com. This site is also housed on the League’s Web site.
Information regarding the Find A CU Program (formerly known as CU Match Up Program), which is provided as part of your dues, was enclosed in the mailing. Find A CU allows you to input and update your current field of membership information into a national online database individuals can use to find a credit union. Since this program is administered separately by an outside organization, you must handle the updates separately from the League’s Field of Membership Survey and online CU Directory Update. Your participation in Find A CU is voluntary. If your credit union is not listed and you are interested in being part of this service, contact Vicki Ponzo, ICUL Senior Vice President of Member Services, to obtain a User ID and Password for your organization. Visitors to the League’s website (www.iculeague.coop) can find the Find A CU link in the “Consumer Info” area. In addition, there are numerous other links to Find A CU on other state leagues’ websites and CUNA’s website.
For those already on the program, here are a few helpful hints: if your membership includes multiple zip codes, when entering that information list each one individually and separate with a comma. Do not enter ranges. Also, be sure to include all variations of the credit union name in your search criteria providing the consumer with multiple ways to find your site.
Job Classifieds
In an effort to assist our members seeking job applicants, we are providing information about several online resources. Currently, the League offers its members a free Job Posting service available on its web site These “classifieds” list job opportunities available at Illinois credit unions. The site generally has 8 to 15 listings each month. We strongly encourage credit unions seeking job applicants to take advantage of this free service to post job openings. Contact the League’s Human Resource Department to post a job opening.
To broaden the pool for those seeking job applicants, we have several suggestions for credit unions: CUNA has a job posting, resume search and resume submittal section that is nationwide available through its web site at www.cuna.coop. Career One Stop www.careeronestop.org allows employers to post job openings free of charge and allows you to search its resume database and create customized job descriptions. It is free to those seeking jobs as well. NACE link focuses on matching employers and universities. Its website is www.nacelink.com/nl_central_employer.asp. Another option is the Illinois Job Bank which allows employers to list job openings in Illinois. Its web site is www.jobbankinfo.org.
The ICUL Job Board by CreditUnionboard.com enables employers to post jobs and search through over 135,000 industry resumes. The Job board packages that are available offer members unlimited access to resumes and unlimited job postings capabilities. Job seekers can post resumes and search jobs for free. Through our partnership, ICUL members will receive an exclusive discount of up to 20 percent off on select ICUL job board packages.
