Questions & Answers

Who can donate money for this project?
Gifts will be accepted from everyone who wants to contribute to the CUs for Kids Campaign.

How can a person make a contribution?
Each credit union can establish an account to collect the gifts. When the fundraising drive is over, the credit union will issue a share draft for all the gifts to the ICU Foundation.

What kind of recognition will credit unions receive for this fundraising campaign?
During the CMN telethon, the gifts will be presented by credit union representatives in each area.

When is the latest date my members can make contributions?
Since the Foundation needs to collect the gifts from credit unions by December 15, you may want to set a deadline of December 1 as the latest date when your members can make contributions.

What if the credit union doesn’t raise the full amount we pledged?
The credit union is not obligated to donate the amount pledged if you do not meet your fundraising goal. Simply send whatever amount you collect for the campaign.

Should my credit union or chapter make a gift for this project rather than our regular donation to the ICU Foundation?
We hope everyone will participate in the Credit Unions for Kids project in addition to their regular Foundation activity. Please note these gifts will directly benefit the hospitals. No dollars from this fundraiser will benefit the Illinois Credit Union Foundation.

Why did you choose the Children’s Miracle Network?
The ICU Foundation Board was impressed by the work of the hospitals served by the CMN network. The fact that every penny of every donation goes to the hospital that serves the community in which the gift was given was a major factor in selecting this program. The ICU Foundation strives to serve all the cities and towns in Illinois and the Board feels the CUs for Kids project fits our needs. Last, but not least, the proven success of the program in other states shows how well the fundraisers are accepted by credit unions and their members.

Where does my gift go?
Your gift will be forwarded, in full, to the hospital that serves your community along with all the gifts from the other credit unions in your area. The hospital will receive one check from the ICU Foundation and a list of contributing credit unions that shows the amount each collected.

What is the deadline for contributions?
The ICU Foundation must receive your contribution by December 15 in order to include it in the gifts presented during the CMN Champions Broadcast for a given calendar year.
