NCUA Chairman Fryzel to keynote Small Asset Size CU Conference

Michael Fryzel, Chairman of the National Credit Union Administration Board, will be the featured speaker at the annual Small CU Asset Size Conference sponsored by the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL).

The conference is set for August 4-5, 2009 at the ICU System Center in Naperville and is designed especially for credit unions with $20 million or less in assets.  In addition to his presentation, Chairman Fryzel will entertain questions from the attendees.

"We are delighted to host Chairman Fryzel at the SAS Conference," said Daniel D. Plauda, ICUL President/Chief Executive Officer.  "This conference has grown to become one of our most popular events."

Other highlights of the conference include presentations by credit union officials on small credit union issues including, Strategies for Net Worth Management, NCUA/DFI Panel, Business Development Planning and Developing Basic CU Policies.  There will also be ample time built into the schedule for attendees to network and share best practices with one another.

On Tuesday, August 4, there is a welcome reception and on Wednesday, there is a networking lunch. The final portion of the agenda features an open forum where participants will have an opportunity to learn from one another.

ICU Foundation Golf Outing to raise funds for grants and scholarships

Since 1978, the ICU Foundation has provided countless scholarships for credit union-related education, grants to small credit unions to help them remian viable, and grants to charities for services projects that benefit local communities.

One of the key ways the Foundation raises money to for this critical credit union support is via its annual golf outing, coming up on July 29.  The event will be held at Fox Run Golf Links in Elk Grove Village, with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun.  The event is scheduled as a dual competition, where participants can choose between a scramble or individual play.

Because of participation in this event and other support, the ICU Foundation has provided more than $2.78 million in grants and scholarships over its 30-year history.  Additionally, credit union support of the Foundation's "Credit Unions for Kids" program, which benefits the Children's Miracle Network (CMN), has totaled $1.5 million.

To continue with its quality programs, the ICU Foundation needs your support.  For more information about the golf outing, please see the brochure on the golf outing page, or contact Vicki Ponzo or Melanie Murphy at 800-942-7124.
