The registration and hotel information to participate as part of the Illinois delegation at the 2012 CUNA GAC is now available
The 2012 GAC will be held Sunday March 18-Thursday March 22.
NEW this year: The private Illinois group reception and dinner has been moved to Sunday evening (from Monday evening), to allow interested participants the opportunity to attend the CUNA Foundation's awards banquet (Herb Wegner Memorial banquet) held on Monday night.
Watch for additional communication in the near future from the League on how you can register with the League for the CUNA GAC and Illinois-only events, as well as securing housing in the Illinois League hotel (once again the Grand Hyatt).
Two of the keynote presentations will include former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Bob Woodward/Carl Bernstein journalistic duo.
As you know, the CUNA GAC is the largest credit union conference and one that all credit unions should attend. Legislative challenges and regulatory burdens continue to be a focus, and an election year brings the opportunity for credit unions to get behind our powerful cause. Together, we can build our future and provide the vision of credit union success for new generations.

Busch Stadium Suite Event – St. Louis

The George G. Burnett and Southern Illinois chapters will once again be coordinating a Cardinals/Cubs game in a Busch Stadium suite to support CUPAC. The 12:05 p.m. game will be held on Saturday, April 14. The event sold out last year and is expected to again this year. Get your request in early! Price per ticket is $210.00, which includes entrance into the stadium/suite, food, beer and soda. This is a sold out game and it is expected to be the game where the Cardinal players will be presented their World Series Rings. ICUL 82nd Annual Convention – Schaumburg (NEW LOCATION!)

Much will be new for CUPAC supporters and credit union attendees alike at ICUL’s 82nd Annual Convention next year. First, as you may already have heard, the Convention is moving to a new location– the Schaumburg Renaissance Convention Center! Second, there will be a “CUPAC Corner”, conveniently located near registration on the lower level of the convention center and will be open Thursday from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and on Friday from 12:30-2:00 P.M. Become a CUPAC Advocate and immediately receive your invitation to the exclusive Advocates/ Capitol Club/VIP Recognition breakfast being held on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. Also in response to attendee suggestions, you still have the opportunity to support CUPAC with a voluntary contribution for this year’s “non-event.” Enjoy the evening “your way” while knowing your voluntary contribution supports credit union efforts in these historic times. We hope you continue to support CUPAC through this non-event convention fundraiser. Spring Golf Outing – Springfield

As a result of a successful inaugural event in 2011, CUPAC will be hosting a golf outing once again in the Springfield area the afternoon prior to Legislative Day (see next item). Details on this event will be forthcoming, but in the interim, please mark your calendar to attend.
Legislative Day and Governor’s Mansion Reception - Springfield

Please mark your calendar to attend the League’s annual Legislative Day event, which is scheduled for May 9. The 2012 event will include a trip back to the Governor’s mansion for the reception as well as a shift in the schedule to hopefully provide better opportunities in which you can visit your local state lawmakers. Complete details for the 2012 event will be provided in January via a brochure mailed to all credit unions. Also monitor the League’s Web site where information will be posted as it becomes available.
Summer Golf Outing – Naperville (NEW Location!)

CUPAC’s annual golf outing is scheduled for Monday, June 18 at Tamarack Golf Club in Naperville (this event had been previously held at Orchard Valley Golf Club in Aurora). Watch your mail for registration information as the date approaches.
Wrigley Field Event

The Wrigley Field Chicago Cubs CUPAC fundraiser has been scheduled. The event will be Thursday, August 30 (1:20 pm game time) against the Milwaukee Brewers. It will once again be in the suite below the historic scoreboard. The name has changed to the "Budweiser Bleacher Suite" (formerly known as the Batter's Eye). More details to follow.
Hike the Hill – Washington, D.C.
October 3 – 4, 2012
Be sure to make your calendar to join the Illinois delegation in the nation’s capitol October 3 - 4 for the League’s annual Hike the Hill event. At this past year’s event, a delegation of 13 credit union officials from nine credit unions, as well as key League staff met with their Congressmen to discuss vital issues of concern. The meetings were very positive and we will continue interacting with these legislators via candidate interviews and chapter legislative nights in their respective districts prior to the November 2012 election.

Planning for CUPAC’s annual Wrigley Field fundraiser is currently underway. We will provide details on this event as soon as it is confirmed.
Chapter Lobby Days
"Chapter Lobby Days" is an activity to augment credit unions’ Capitol Hill visits that are conducted in conjunction with the annual Legislative Day event. This program is designed to encourage chapter officials, credit union staff, key legislative contacts and other interested parties to foster relationship development between credit unions and their lawmakers, and to send a strong message that credit unions have a continuous grassroots presence in the Capitol. Lobby Day events also give the League the opportunity to provide more individualized service to chapter volunteers during their visits.
