Credit Union Political Action Council (CUPAC)
The Credit Union Political Action Council (CUPAC) is a voluntary association of credit union members, chapters and credit unions. It is not affiliated with any one political party and is an independent and autonomous organization not supported by League dues. CUPAC’s purpose is to promote good government and favorable legislation for credit unions through raising and disbursing funds to candidates and legislators sympathetic to the credit union movement. iBelong Campaign
Credit unions across the nation have struggled for many years with member attrition, losing ground each year as the competition from banks and other financial institutions gets more and more fierce. In Illinois, we face an additional challenge: awareness. Sadly, Illinois consumers are uninformed about credit unions. Many don’t know what a credit union is or how they can benefit from membership. Those who do know the benefits of credit union membership don’t realize that they are eligible. To that end, the Statewide Credit Union Image Awareness Task Force, in cooperation with ICUL has licensed the Pennsylvania League's "iBelong" campaign to increase credit union awareness among Illinois consumers. As a replacement to the Illinois Cooperative Advertising Reaches Everyone (I-CARE) program, this effort will entail media coverage to reach consumers in every corner of Illinois, including newspaper ads, radio ads, and a campaign Web site, as well as supplemental materials provided to participating credit unions to support the effort with direct mail, newsletter articles, press releases and web graphics.
