Programs for Small Credit Unions

The success of smaller credit unions is extremely important to the movement as a whole.  For this reason, the League places special emphasis on providing the resources small credit unions need to strengthen their operations, chart their futures, and deliver quality services to their members.  Services of particular interest to smaller credit unions include:

  • Online Small Credit Union Center, a comprehensive and unique suite of online tools that give small credit union management easy access to documents, templates, links and other resources.

  • Scholarships and Grants via the ICU Foundation: Staff and volunteer scholarships for continuing credit union education, including CUNA Schools, ICU System conferences, college classes and self-study programs.  The Emerging Credit Union Program also provides grants of up to $125,000 to help limited income credit unions implement special programs or increase reserves.   In addition, the Foundation's Small Credit Union Development grants offer funds to credit unions with less than $10 million in assets to purchase equipment, attend training classes and create promotional materials;

  • Field support available in a wide range of areas;

  • Basic credit union planning sessions completed by regional managers;

  • SAS CU Advisory Group - a coordinated effort of workgroups of your peers from throughout the state to facilitate a statewide collaborative effort, study small credit union challenges, offer resourceful solutions, and help secure the strength of its small credit union community;

  • Price breaks on registration fees for League sponsored education sessions;

  • Annual Small Credit Union Conference
