CUs hold Shred Day events
As a friend to members and their communities, several credit unions recently held Shred Day events, where individuals are invited to bring their unwanted and/ or un-needed financial documents and securely dispose of them. Those who recently participated in this activity included (at left from top): South Division CU in Evergreen Park, which held its in conjunction with the local farmers market; the Illinois Quad Cities Chapter; and MembersAlliance CU in Rockford, which had the assistance of students from the local National Honors Society. Just through these three events, more than 15,000 pounds of documents were shredded.
35th Annual ICUL Attorneys' Conference a success
ICUL's Office of General Counsel held its 35th Annual Attorneys' Conference last month. The two-day event is for attorneys who represent credit unions and other financial institutions. At left, Stephen Olson, ICUL's EVP, General Counsel and COO welcomes the attendees. See the full story under the Events section of this issue.
Chapter CEO lunches with Dan continue good dialogue
As part of his effort to dialogue with credit union officials, ICUL President/CEO Dan Plauda hosts luncheons around the state at the chapter level. Topics include System updates and activities, as well as legislative and regulatory initiatives and other issues. At left was Dan's most recent lunch with the Tri-County Chapter of CUs.
ICUL first League to hold retirement fair for staff
Last month, the ICUL was the first League in the nation to host for its staff a new Retirement Fair created by the National CU Foundation’s REAL Solutions Program in cooperation with CUNA Mutual. See "Important News" for the story.
