November 2012

Special events/celebration weeks.

League Staff Retirements - Save the Date!  On November 26 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., ICUL will be hosting a "retirement" celebration for Don Edwards, Con O’Mahoney and Sue O’Mahoney at the League office. We hope you will be able to join us to wish them all a long, prosperous and happy retirement.  Don, Con and Sue have all been with the League more than 35 years.  During that time they contributed a wealth of knowledge, leadership, commitment and dedication to both the League and its member credit unions.  If you are unable to join us for this event, you can share your good wishes, stories or photos by sending them to Vicki Ponzo no later than November 20.  We are planning to present them with albums that will forever contain these memories.  If you are able to join us on November 26, please respond to Vicki no later than November 5.

SCAP deadline coming up.  Attention all chapters: It’s time to think about your Chapter’s 2012 advertising and promotion expenses.  The deadline for submitting these expenses via the Shared Chapter Advertising Program (SCAP) is December 1, 2012.  For more details, please click here.

As a follow up to successful "Lunch and Learn" workshops, three small asset size (SAS) workshops have been scheduled for credit unions under $25 million in assets.  These three-hour sessions will provide a unique opportunity to gain industry knowledge and put it to work in your credit union, including information on non-interest income, regulatory concerns, ACH compliance, marketing and more.  These programs, dedicated to driving financial health and member growth by providing SAS credit unions the tools they need to reach success, will be held in Springfield on November 28, in Kankakee on December 11 and in DeKalb on December 12.  For more information about the meetings, please contact
Joni Senkpeil, ICUL Director of Small CU Development at (800) 942-7124, ext. 2723 or click here to register.

Call for Hall of Fame Nominations.  Nominations for the 2013 Illinois Credit Union Hall of Fame will be accepted through December 31.  Up to two individuals from the categories of Lifetime Achievement and Leadership will receive this prestigious honor.  Each credit union or chapter is entitled to submit one nomination annually. Inductees will be chosen based on an objective point system and the nominee profile submitted with the application.  If you have any questions regarding the Hall of Fame program, please contact Vicki Ponzo, ICUL Senior Vice President of Member Services,

Looking Ahead to 2013

CUNA GAC - Washington, D.C.
February 24-28, 2013
As you know, as the largest and most impactful credit union conference, CUNA GAC is the one event that all credit unions should attend.  This year’s event will focus on the challenges and opportunities for credit unions presented by the agenda of the soon-to-be elected 113th Congress.  Join other champions of the credit union movement at the 2013 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC).  Help demonstrate to our newly elected and veteran representatives how our commitment to our members makes credit unions different from other financial institutions.  The GAC is the credit union movement’s premier political event and its largest national conference.  The theme for the 2013 GAC is Powerful Cause. Positive Effect
