ICUL Electronic Communications
Latest available information is from OGC
In its continuing effort to increase electronic communication of important information across all of its functional areas, the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) now distributes news from the Office of General Counsel (OGC) on an as-needed basis via e-mail.
News from OGC may include Legal and Technical (L&T) Bulletins, as well as compliance, regulatory, legislative and transactional matters of critical importance to the credit union movement. This new communications vehicle will also serve as an extension of the on-going analysis of laws, regulations and court decisions affecting credit union operations that OGC provides to League members.
As you are probably already aware, OGC has an extensive library of compliance information on the League’s Web site. This comprehensive online resource features an archive of L&T Bulletins, the League Information Manual, frequently asked questions, comment and opinion letters, commonly used forms, table of reporting deadlines, and credit union retention schedules. Information in this section of the Web site is updated regularly and we invite you to check out the many resources if you have not recently.
All credit unions have been mailed a sign up form to begin receiving information from OGC via e-mail. You may also sign up via the link at the bottom of this page.
Please note that all e-mail addresses collected by the League will be available to a limited number of League staff. In addition, e-mails are personalized, do not contain e-mail addresses of other recipients, and will be used only for the purpose for which they were collected. In addition, the League will continue to use its outgoing fax distribution system. Credit unions that do not have e-mail or a fax machine will continue to receive critical League materials via first class mail.
In addition to information from OGC, a number of other electronic communications options are available via the League. Please review each option below and feel free to sign up for as many as you like and apply to your operation. On the form, please be sure to also include the names and e-mail addresses for the appropriate staff and board members from your credit union that should receive each communication as appropriate.
Indepth. This newsletter is designed to communicate information and updates on important issues and trends affecting Illinois credit unions, as well as ICUL's initiatives and activities. Indepth focuses on a wide range of topics including legislative, regulatory, legal, and lending issues, products/services, educational activities, and ICUL programs. Please keep staff at your credit union who are in charge of these areas, board members and others in mind when providing names of who should receive this publication.
League E-News Direct. This electronic newsletter is designed to provide affiliated credit unions with updates regarding ICUL's activities and other issues of critical importance as they arise.
Weekly Government News. The Weekly Government News provides weekly updates regarding ICUL's state and federal legislative agendas, including the status of bills, compliance and regulatory updates. This communication is sent out every Friday that state and federal legislators are in session. When they are not in session, the Weekly Government News is sent out as events warrant.
One of the recent steps that ICUL has taken into the electronic communications realm is listservs. A listserv is an interactive online discussion feature in which groups of people with common interests can exchange ideas, ask questions, get answers, and openly discuss topics of interest with members who are signed up on a particular list. To date, ICUL has established two listservs: the Small Credit Union Listserv, reserved for credit unions under $20 million in assets, and the Chapter Leaders Listserv for officers or chapter representatives serving one of ICUL's 24 chapters.
