There were many highlights, including the welcoming of Sean Hession, ICUL incoming President/Chief Executive Officer, CUNA President & CEO Bill Cheney, who provided the keynote address, and the changing of the gavel.  Pete Paulson, ICUL Director, Class D, District 3, and CEO of Corporate America Family Credit Union, was sworn in as the League's 40th chairman.

In addition, a number of credit unions and individuals received accolades for their accomplishments during the past year.  These included: Illinois Credit Union Foundation Commemorative Awards for Earnise Muse, ICUL director from 1994 to 2002; ICUL President/Chief Executive Officer Dan Plauda; and Jack Teausant, CEO, Financial Plus Credit Union; who were each honored with a tribute award.  In addition, there were two inductees into the Illinois Credit Union Hall of Fame: Terry Brahm, CEO, DHCU Community Credit Union and Dan Plauda.

Spirit of Service Employee of the Year and Volunteer of the Year awards went to: Michelle Caldwell, Marketing Director, Community Trust Credit Union; and Christine Dickover, Chairman, Chicago Metro Chapter of Credit Unions, respectively.  Also acknowledged at the Keynote & Awards were numerous individuals, credit unions and chapters who contributed more than $364,000 to CUPAC, and those who assisted the Illinois Credit Union Foundation in providing nearly $150,000 in grants and scholarships in 2013.

In addition, 15 credit unions celebrating milestone anniversaries (25th and 50th) this year were recognized, as were winners of the Dora Maxwell, Louise Herring, and Desjardins awards competitions.

The annual convention included 22 educational opportunities, including a "pre-con" workshop.  The closing session on Saturday morning featured Jack McCall.  Attendees enjoyed the sounds of nationally acclaimed Beatles tribute band, American English, as they celebrated the band's 50th anniversary during the Chairman's reception.

"Thank you Illinois credit unions for making this a great Convention," said Geri Burek, outgoing ICUL Chairman.  "See you next year back in Schaumburg, April 15 - 18, 2015!"
