Patricia Fox Johnson Tribute (2008)
Patricia Fox Johnson started as a bookkeeper at the Sun Times Employees Credit Union in 1975. She moved up to assistant manager, then becoming manager/ president in 1982. Originally, the credit union also served the employees of the Daily News, but when the presses stopped running, the credit union felt the impact because it was in the days before "once a member, always a member."
There has been much turmoil in the newspaper industry over the past 33 years, especially during the past decade when ownership has changed hands. The "plain vanilla" credit union steadfastly served its members during the trying times. People fondly remember the days when they received 13 percent dividends on savings. Patricia guided the credit union and upgraded its technology during her tenure at the credit union.
