ICU Foundation Perpetual Awards
Lloyd "Pete" Peters Memorial (2001)

The credit union movement lost a dear friend this year when Pete Peters passed away unexpectedly. Pete was facilities manager for I.H. Mississippi Valley Credit Union, where he worked for 34 years. He served as League Director from the Illinois Quad Cities Chapter for the past 10 years, and was chairman of the board from 1998 to 2000.

Pete was a staunch advocate for CUPAC and was active in local politics, including serving as a Rock Island city councilman from 1978 until 1980. Prior to working at the credit union, Pete worked at Rock Island Millworks Company and served in the Air Force from 1954-1957.

Pete participated in local activities, including the Moline Morning Kiwanis Club. Pete was an active member of 15th Avenue Christian Church in Rock Island since 1983. He served as church treasurer, chairman of the board, deacon and elder.

Gifts from credit unions, chapters, friends and family from throughout Illinois established this award in memory of Pete.
