ICU Foundation Perpetual Awards
Leonard Clore Memorial (1999)
The credit union movement lost a dedicated leader last year, Leonard Briney Clore, the second person for whom the Foundation established a Perpetual Award in the past year.
Len was active in the credit union movement for 42 years, during which time he helped charter two credit unions--District 103 Teachers Credit Union and District #143 Employees Federal Credit Union.
He worked as a junior high school teacher and a school principal until he retired in 1986. Upon his retirement from the school district, Len’s involvement with the credit union movement increased. He served as Treasurer of District #143 Employees Federal Credit Union and was a key figure in expanding its field of membership. He also became a chapter leader in the Southeast Chapter and earned the coveted chapter merit award for his years of dedicated service.
Many colleagues, friends and credit union members contributed in loving memory of Len to his scholarship fund. Family members matched their gracious donations, bringing the total gift to $5,000. Leonard will long be remembered for his tireless efforts on behalf of the credit union movement and his commitment to “people helping people”.
