Jack Teausant Tribute (2014)
John “Jack” Teausant is being honored today by his board of directors and credit union for his years of service. Jack will retire as president of Financial Plus Credit Union later this year.
Jack began his credit union career in 1976 when he was hired as a manager trainee at Glass Workers Credit Union in Ottawa. Three years later he was promoted to President expanded its charter to include the community and adopted its current name.
Jack grew his credit union into a more than $200 million financial cooperative and strived to support and build his community into a better place through staff involvement in local events and projects. His staff regularly participates in local charity events and volunteer in a wide array of financial literacy projects with local schools.
Jack also has personally contributed countless hours of his time to assist the credit union movement by serving on the League, Chapter and CUPAC Boards of Directors. He was named Illinois CUES Executive of the Year in 1982 and 2000 and also won the distinguished US Chamber of Commerce Small Business Award for Excellence in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009.
In 2012 Jack was inducted into the Illinois Credit Union Hall of Fame, an honor reserved for the most distinguished credit union leaders.
Jack Teausant is outstanding example of a credit union professional that has devoted his life to helping others through his leadership at the credit union, mentoring his staff, providing support of the League and Tri-County Chapter, actively engaging in legislative advocacy, and participating in community involvement.
