2012 Chapter Leaders Conference Information

Chapter Leaders Followup

Thanks again to the Chapter Officials who were able to join us for the 2012 Chapter Leaders Conference.  Special thanks to the Chicago Metro Chapter for all of its hard work in making this year's conference an "Oscar" winning performance.  Nearly 90 leaders from 17 of the Illinois Credit Union League’s (ICUL) 24 chapters were in attendance.

As a follow-up, we wanted to make available additional information and resources for everyone’s benefit.  These include:

Brainstorming roundtables recaps.  There were six different topics from which to choose and participate. These included: "Show Me the Money" – Build an Oscar Award-Winning Fundraiser; "Nine to Five" – Working the Chapter Meeting; "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" – Political Action Ideas; "Pay It Forward": Community Involvement…CU Involvement…Foundation Involvement; "Young Blood" – Getting Younger Staff / Members Involved; and "It’s a Wonderful Life" – Collaboration Ideas (Big / Little CUs & Chapters).  Click here for the master document recapping discussions of all the sessions.

Powerpoint presentations shown at the opening evening event.  There are two available: one paying homage to historical chapter leaders and recipients of this year’s "Oscars".  To view the Rockford Chapter's videos that were part of this Powerpoint, please click here for video #1 and here for video #2.

Chapter leaders listserv.  During the conference, we had several questions and comments about the listserv for chapter leaders.  As you may or may not be aware, this listserv is available to you as a means of providing an interactive online discussion feature in which groups of people with common interests (i.e., Chapter Leaders) can exchange ideas via email.  Using a Listserv is almost like using regular e-mail, except that instead of sending a message to an individual, your message is sent to all members who are signed up on the list.  All current chapter leaders have already been placed on the listserv, so upon receiving the confirmation e-mail, please feel free to use this free resource to continue your discussions not only at chapter leaders but throughout the year!  All current chapter leaders are currently on the listserv and it is updated as officials change every year. If you have not already, you should be receiving an e-mail confirming you are on the listserv.  For your reference, please click on this link for listserv usage instructions and guidelines.

Photos.  Check out the Flickr online photo album of pictures from the event.  In addition, please watch for a recap story in the September issue of Indepth.

Chapter Leaders Handbook.  As you may or may not know, the handbook is always available online via the League’s Web site.  It was also recently updated prior to the conference so feel free to peruse it at your convenience.

2013 Conference:  Please note the 2013 Chapter Leaders Conference is tentatively being planned for about the same time of year in the Bloomington area.  Information will be shared as dates and further information is confirmed.

Thank you again for everything you do at the chapter level!  If you have any follow-up questions from the conference, please contact our Education Department at (630) 983-3417.
