- Describe your BEST PRACTICE/HIGH POINT:
In 2001 our chapter combined our joint advertisement and I-CARE campaign to enable our chapter to purchase four months of cable television. Previously, our chapter purchased a joint advertisement in our local paper for International Credit Union Day and participated in a separate I-CARE campaign. While both were successful, we were only able to purchase coverage for two to three weeks. By combining efforts and utilizing our SCAB reimbursement, our chapter was able to maximize our efforts and purchase four months of coverage. Like before, each credit union’s name was listed on the advertisement. We utilized the movie I-CARE movie theater screens and radio spot to create our advertisement. We worked with Insight Media to purchase advertising on two local channels and The Weather Channel.
- What made it a HIGH POINT or PEAK EXPERIENCE?
This was a High Point for our chapter because we were able to meet a goal of increased awareness for credit unions. Each credit union who participated in either the I-CARE campaign or our chapter’s joint advertisement was listed on the one of the screens. We had over 3,300 opportunities to inform people of Central Illinois of the benefits of joining a credit union. It was estimated that over 58,000 homes in Central Illinois subscribe to cable television and would be exposed to our advertisements on a daily basis.
- What POSTIVE IMPACT did it have for the participants and the Chapter?
Our chapter was able to combine efforts, reduce time, and reach more people. This gave means to achieve a goal of increasing our advertising time without increasing the overall dollars spent. For some of the smaller credit unions they were able to have four months of advertising for approximately $100.00!
